The history of Cosmopolitan China begins a bit earlier, in 1993, when a Fashion Media Group called 时尚 "Trends" was founded in Beijingdongdan and issued a magazine under the same name "Trends". It became China's first focus on the high quality magazines carrying to people Chinese fashion dream. In the beginning the magazine issued 1 time in 2 months and was a double edition for women and men (the front cover named: "Trends Lady", the back cover - "Trends Gentlemen").

In 1997 the magazine changed into monthly publication (starting from #22) and separated into 2 independent version for men and women, the numeration continued went as: 1 - "Trends lady", 2 - "Trends gentleman" and each version published 1 issue in 2 months: (january - Trends Lady; February - Trends Gentleman; etc...)
